Triangle Professional Soccer Preparing to Start Play in 2006!

Town of Cary Mayor Ernie McAlister has called a press conference for Thursday, January 26th at SAS Soccer Park to make an announcement that Cary is ready to welcome professional soccer back to the Triangle. It is expected that the mayor will announce that Triangle Professional Soccer, L.L.C., a NC company owned and operated by the same ownership group which owns the Rochester Raging Rhinos of the United Soccer Leagues (USL), intend to own and operate a new local soccer team to compete in USL Division 1. Cary Town Council also has an agenda item on that same night to address an amendment to its current lease of SAS Soccer Park in order to make way for a a 6 year sub-lease to allow TPS to bring a team to the Triangle. It is expected that the new pro team would play 6-10 exhibition games during 2006 in order to build awareness and a fan base in the local area before entering the USL First Division in the Spring of 2007. One interesting note about the sub-lease terms: it grants TPS the exclusive rights to pro soccer and pro lacrosse at SAS Soccer Park during the 6 year span. Update (1/23): The Town of Cary has issued a press release regarding the press conference. Rochester Rhinos owner Chris Economides will make the announcement Thursday at 3pm at SAS Soccer Park.

Triangle Professional Soccer is one Mickey Mouse Organization -- Maybe they can play soccer, but they sure cannot manage a facility the quality of SAS field! We went to the US Women's national team game there against Canada this past weekend (7/30), and clearly the company is not up to it. The concessions were completely out of everything except one type of soda by half time -- They won't let you bring anything into the stadium, which is fine as long as they are going to adequately stock bottled water (etal...) for a 95 degree day. I bet some law suits come out, as several people looked as though heat stroke had set in. Actually, Mickey Mouse would be a complement to them, actually Goofy is more like it! We are die-hard fans, but never again will we go to SAS field!

Hello John. I'm sorry you had a bad experience. Please note that the concessionaire for SAS Soccer Park is someone that is under contract to the Town of Cary for the past several years. Triangle Professional Soccer, who only begun leasing the stadium in January had absolutely ZERO input into the decision to hire this concessionaire. From talking to someone within the TPS organization this afternoon, they are as upset as you are with what happened with the water/beverage situation. Your frustration is understandable, but I hope you will direct your ire at the appropriate organization.
